Man!!! I can only imagine how much this sucks!!! As  a musician, as a gear owner, a collector and a store owner, this is a nightmare. Sure – that is why we have insurance, but none the less, the loss represents years of work and investment. Look very close at the pictures!!!

In this business, products change so fast, that if you find a great tool that works for you, you may not be able to get another one. This can be real pain and an expensive one at that. A loss this extensive for a touring musician is a very great one. It isn’t just the gear, but the man hours involved just to get everything dialed back in.

I read an article in The Music Trades that stated although all the numbers were not in yet, the facility where Brad Paisleys gear (plus many, many other performing artists equipment) is considered to be a total loss! It is amazing to me the Nashville Flood hardly received any national press. Go Figure?

Lives were not lost of the physical, but mentally it will be an adjustment!

Reckless Kelly played the 1st of two Sold Out shows at The State Room in Salt Lake City Utah .

 They blew the roof off the room. These guys are tight!  Man! What A Show!!!

Here is a little history from their website:

The project is the perfect gateway to understanding the life and music that have been inextricably bound since Cody and Willy Braun’s boyhood near Challis, Idaho. Their grandfather, Musty Braun, passed his love of music to their father, Muzzie, whose western swing band eventually included Willy, Cody, and their brothers Micky and Gary.

“Our mother was the only person in the family that didn’t play anything,” Willy says, and she served as the band’s road manager. The family act played everywhere from the Grand Ole Opry to The Tonight Show. By their teens, the Braun brothers were bringing a host of other influences to their music, and as they formed their own band they drew on the practical wisdom that existed in the very lives of their father and his friends. “They showed us you could make records on your own,” says Cody. “You didn’t have to have a label. You could make your own records and T-shirts, hire a publicist and do everything on your own. It’s how we started, knowing we could make a living doing it.”

After a period in the Northwest, they settled in Austin, whose artist-friendly atmosphere and egalitarian club scene proved to be the most fertile possible soil. “The college kids and the party scene helped amplify everything,” says Cody. “The live show came around to a real party atmosphere, just having fun and getting people to whoop it up.”

Their 1998 debut, Millican, brought the twang, the energy and the hooks together earning them four Austin Music Awards for Best Roots Rock act. Each new record swelled their fan base and widened their geographic impact. “With every new album,” says Willy, “we’ve exceeded the sales of the last one, and every time we go into the studio we try to raise the bar on production and the quality of songs. And each time a few more radio stations play our music and more people come to shows.”

With their increased visibility has come the opportunity to give back and 2009 saw the group’s first Celebrity Softball Jam raise $30,000 for Austin charities. They have also, in addition to appearances at military base benefits, launched Reckless Soldiers, using their website to help military personnel connect with family, friends and supporters.

Whether it’s their dedication to charity work, playing live or the art of writing a timeless tune, Reckless Kelly is tireless in their pursuit of excellence. It’s this attitude and their near legendary propensity for a good time that ensures their success as artists. The Somewhere in Time project is no exception. “I think this time,” adds Willy, “we did again what we always set out to do, which is to make a record we can be proud of.”

Logan Platt and Adam Passwater of the Premier Salt Lake City Metal Band –  Brute Force stopped by our studios for some setups on their guitars. The band is headed into the recording studio to finish a track for a metal compilation disc due out in April.

Adam tears it up with a Dean Razorback and Logan does his evil deeds on an Epiphone Explorer.

All set ups include new strings. Setups consist of (if needed) Adjust neck relief, Nut to first fret height, Adjust saddle radius and height, Tailpiece height, Intonate, Tighten all hardware, Set pickup height, Clean pots, Check all electronics, Clean and oil fretboard, clean and polish guitar.

If you like your guitar to feel and play a specific way, please let me know, I will do my best to set it up that way for you.

I offer one free follow up per guitar to micro adjust after you have played it for a few days. It helps me to dial in the way you like your guitar to play and feel.

Turnaround time is usually two or three days.If I have to order parts, could be longer. I just had a parts nightmare on an Epiphone three pickup Custom Les Paul, had the guitar almost a month.

Tommy Castro Live Blues The State Room SLC Utah

Born in San Jose, California in 1955, Castro first picked up a guitar at age 10. He came under the spell of Eric Clapton, Elvin Bishop, Mike Bloomfield and other blues rock players early on. As he got older, Castro moved forward by investigating the past, falling in love with the blues guitar work of Muddy Waters, B.B. King, Freddie King, Buddy Guy, Elmore James and singers like Ray Charles, Wilson Pickett and James Brown. By his late 20s he was playing in a variety of San Francisco-area blues and soul bands.

Castro joined Warner Brothers artists The Dynatones in the late 1980s. The much-loved rocking soul band had a huge fan base and toured the U.S. constantly. He honed his chops with the band on the road for two years, performing live all across the country and backing major artists like Carla Thomas and Albert King. He formed The Tommy Castro Band in 1991 and won the Bay Area Music Award for Best Club Band in both 1993 and 1994. With his local fan base quickly expanding, he released his debut album, Exception To The Rule, in 1996 on Blind Pig. He began touring nationally with his band, picking up new fans everywhere he went. The album won the 1997 Bay Area Music Award for Outstanding Blues Album, and Castro also took the award for Outstanding Blues Musician that same year.

In the mid-1990s The Tommy Castro Band served as the house band for three seasons on NBC Television’s Comedy Showcase (airing right after Saturday Night Live), bringing him in front of millions of viewers every week. During the 1990s and into the 2000s, Castro released a series of critically acclaimed CDs for Blind Pig, Telarc and 33rd Street Records as well as one on his own Heart And Soul label. In 2001 and 2002 the legendary B.B. King asked Castro to open his summer concert tours. Castro received an open invitation to join the king of the blues on stage for the nightly finale.

Publications across the country, from The Washington Post to The San Francisco Examiner, have sung Castro’s praises. Guitar Player called Castro “the hardest working bluesman on the scene today.” The Philadelphia Inquirer declared, “Castro plays infectious, roaring roadhouse romps with incendiary licks and a touch of New Orleans soul.” Carlos Santana, with whom Castro has performed, said, “Tommy Castro has the voice and the sound to touch everybody’s heart.” With Hard Believer and plenty of high-profile tour dates to follow, believing in the prodigious talent and unbridled energy of Tommy Castro is anything but hard.   ( Above Excerpt from The Tommy Castro Website)

The Creepshow just “Tore It Up!” Sunday night at Burts Tiki Lounge, Salt Lake City Utah. Burts is not know for the best house PA in SLC, but The Creepshow had the soundman running for his life, “Soundman, who needs a soundman. Their stage mix was great and so was the show!

The Creepshow has got to be one of the Best Bands that ever plays at Burts. Whatever it takes, Don’t miss them next time they play SLC.
